SyncSmartTM explained

Business disruptions due to network outages, device failures or even planned maintenance can negatively impact your bottom line and tarnish your credibility with customers. The benefits of data synchronization lie in the redundancy of networked capabilities which insures constant delivery of services in -for example- an e-commerce environment and are the core of any serious business continuity and disaster recovery planning strategy. By replicating the primary network components, single points of failure are mitigated, providing the ability to quickly transition from your primary network to a backup domain when disaster strikes. There are several network management alternatives available that detect outage situations, determine device level status and perform load-balancing functions. These solutions can either manually interact with a network administrator or automatically begin re-routing traffic to a backup domain. In order to effectively implement this disaster avoidance alternative, the backup domain must contain an up to date replica of your database.

DataSafetyCorporation provides a comprehensive middleware solution called SyncSmart that cost-effectively enables this "Warm-Backup" capability.

Disaster prevention situation

When the Network Manager detects a failure within the primary domain it automatically begins to route traffic to the backup network. The failure could be due to a damaged disk drive or CPU, a communication line outage, a corrupted database or allocation failure caused by flood, fire or sabotage. SyncSmart establishes the recovery baseline and begins tracking changes and updates being applied to the active domain insuring a constant processing capability and data integrity.

Disaster prevented, return to normal operations

Once the problem is resolved, SyncSmart is notified dynamically via the Network Manager or manually via a systems / network administrator to begin restoring the primary database to current status. Processing continues on the backup domain until the primary database is fully synchronized and ready to begin processing. At that point the Network Manager is notified to re-establish normal operations at the primary domain.
